In the heart of Magna Grecia, an area of great artistic and archaeological testimonies, there is the Riva dei Tessali Golf Course, 18 holes 5947 meters par 71. A place of sports and holiday among ancient ruins on the edge of the Ionian Sea in whose crystal clear waters is pleasant dive many months a year.
The path of Riva dei Tessali was cleverly designed by John Harris and Marco Croze. In the design was respected the natural environment, the field, established in 1968, lies in a wonderful and millenary maquis: between rosemary, tamarisk, myrtle, juniper, broom and majestic pine trees whose crowns, if they give great relief even in hottest hours of summer, often interfere with the ideal trajectory, as the hole one par 4 dogleg right that requires precision, the initial strike should not be too long to not end up among the pines, nor short, to have a good view of the green. The first nine holes, in fact, are made more difficult by the presence of large Aleppo pines, while the back nine, only that line the wood, are less demanding although some snare is offered by water hazards. Traditional home of the Open of Puglia and Basilicata, the golf course of Riva dei Tessali is an 18 hole par 71 of 5,960 meters, a path that does not forget the beauty of the pine forest and the comfortable temperature, even in summer, thanks to the breeze from the sea almost imperceptible on the field but that change the trajectories of high balls. A beer and a snack of vegetables and light dishes of Basilicata in the Club House, a cozy restaurant, concludes a path in an environment and a climate unforgettable.
